  This is great for halloween parties for older kids or adults. It is similar to blind man bluff, you blindfold one person and put a wooden spoon in each of his/her hands. Spin the person around a few times while everyone moves about the room. Then everyone must freeze. The blinfolded person then tries to find someone. When he does he then feels the shape of the person who is caught using only the spoons. This is very hard but having costumes on helps because you may feel a hat or can tell the person has on a long cape etc.. It is quite funny as the person with the spoons has no idea where he or she might be poking the person. IT has three (3) guesses to figure out who he has caught. If IT is correct than the discovered person is now the blindfolded one! Crazy Sew! This is so much fun. Here is what you have to do to play the game: First get a pumpkin or any hard veggie like a carrot or a fruit. You must have about five people in each team. Everyone gets the veggie or fruit of their choise! (tip: never use tomatos, but bananas are the best!) Then each team is given a sewing needle and a piece of thread and they have to sew a perfictly straght line with the needle. When the first group that is done they say "Veggie Eater!" That is how you play crazy sew! Also if you mess up you are out of the game! Thank you for reading my game and I hope you think it is fun! Halloween Cake Walk I have a preschool, and I like
to have games that everyone will win each time the game is played. We play
a cake walk game using the colors and shapes that we've been working on,
and then throw in some Halloween shapes (or any holiday shape). You have
to have as many shape squares as you do "little ones". We tape the shapes
squares on the floor in the shape of a circle, and then you have to have
those same shapes thrown in a "hat". Start the music and have the little
ones start to "travel" around in a circle making sure when the music stops
each one is on a square. Then pull out a shape and have the little ones
tell you what color and shape it is, and then find out who is standing
on it! Whoever is standing on it wins the prize! Then the game starts over
until each one has won. Towards the end you have to stratetgize your music
and pulling of shapes making sure everyone wins.
Halloween Words Take the word halloween and put in on a piece of paper or a big board and display for everyone to see. Have everyone see how many words they can make from the word halloween, for example hall, all, wheel. Give everyone at least 10 minutes and see "who" can come up with the most words. RAP THE MUMMY (ALL AGES) Heres a game thats pretty fun. You need a even number of people and a lot of toilet paper. Get everybody into teams of two. Find out who in every group is going to wrap the mummy. The object of the game is to see who can wrap their partner with toilet paper the fastest. Then after one person is done the person who is wraped breaks out of the toilet paper and wraps the other person. The first team that raps each other wins! Orange Relay (at least 8 years of age) This game is fun to play with a group of about 10 kids. Divide them up evenly into two teams. Then, have the first person on each team hold an orange under his/her chin, hurrying to the end of the line to reach the last person, passing it on until the orange gets back to the first kid. Which ever team finishes first wins! Pass the Brains Here's a Halloween variation of the 'pass the parcel' game we typically play at kid's parties in Australia. Scoop out a pumpkin as you would to make a jack -o -lantern. Carve out a face, but don't make the holes too big otherwise the 'brains'will fall out too quickly. (alternatively, you could just draw a face on the pumpkin with a black marker pen). Fill the pumpkin with cold, cooked spaghetti (Angel's hair might be best) hiding wrapped lollies (sorry, candy) in amongst the 'brains'. There should be one lolly for each child playing. Play some spooky music as the pumpkin head is passed around. When the music stops, the child holding the head feels through its 'brains to find a lolly. Wrapped Candies Using a deep pan or tub (the longer
the better) place various wrapped candies all over bottom. Cover with cooked
spaghetti noodles (color if you like). Each child gets one grab in the
slimy stuff! Have wet clothes ready to wipe candy off and plastic bags
to put them in.
GUM ON THE NOSE This is a good game for elementary ages; preschoolers will not want to give up their gum!!! Before the party, on a large piece of poster board (you need room to miss) draw a "life-sized" picture of a witch, with a big nose. Have a large flat area to hang the poster. (I suggest sliding glass doors, because they wash easily.) At the party, give kids gum, and let them chew for a couple of minutes. Select one child at a time, blind fold, and spin them around. Instruct them to take the gum out of their mouth, and stick it to the end of the witch's nose. Anyone who gets their gum on the nose, wins. Whoever gets it closest to the tip, gets a special prize. A gag prize is given to whoever misses the furthest. (Don't tell this ahead, there will be gum in your neighbor's yard!) PUMPKIN PUZZLES We have taken medium size pumpkins, cleaned and carved them, then cut them into puzzle pieces. Then each group is given the pieces to their pumpkin, along with some toothpicks. The first group to reassemble their pumpkin is the winners. If you want the game to go on longer they can rotate to the next pumpkin then race again. PING PONG PUMPKINS (Group Game) This is a fun group game, but
you will need lots of ping pong balls. You will divide your group into
two. One side will have pumpkin shaped bowls per person. (Take several
of the plastic pumpkin shaped bowls designed to carry on halloween night
to put all of your treats in. Punch two small holes on either side and
run a string through that is long enough to tie around your waist.)
Autographed Costume Instead of purchasing an expensive costume how's about purchasing a plain long or short sleeve white t-shirt or sweater. Carry and assortment of water proof color markers. Then when you go trick-or-treating have the persons at the door autograph their names or write a message!!! Pass the Parcel Being from Australia we don't celebrate Halloween, so this year it will be my first and I'm having a party with the works! We played this game and it can be adapted to suit any kind of party you are having. You get a prize and wrap in newspaper, coloured paper, wrapping paper or any other kind you have. You put as many layers of wrapping as you want but you must wrap each layer individually. As you wrap each layer, put a sticker on each layer with instructions for the person to do something silly (best if this thing suits the occassion). To start the game, everyone sits in a circle and one persons has the parcel, one person controls the music. Once the music starts you must pass the parcel around the circle, making sure everyone in the circle gets to pass it on to the next person. Whenever the person controlling the music stops the music, the person who has the parcel must unwrap just one layer, read the instrucitons and carry it out. It's a lot of fun and you can be very imaginative with it, you can put one that says "pick out a partner and do the Charleston" or "Tell a scary story". You get the idea. - Cake, Carved Pumpkin, Cookie or Cupcake Walk This needs to be done in a large room.. Put numbers or shapes on the floor, in a huge circle or oval. Ask everyone ahead of time not to scoot acroos these as it will dislodge them. (you will have to tape or glue to floor) Then put the same shapes or numbers in a bowl. Have everyone line up in a long line and start playing music and have them walk until music stops. The one on or nearest the number or symbol that you pull out of the bowl wins the homemade cake, cookies, cupcakes or decorated pumpkin You can use a homemade cake, decorated cupcakes and let them win 2 or 3 at a time, alreNoteady on a plate and wrapped w/ Saran Wrap...you can use homemade cookies and allow them to win 6 already on a plate and wrapped w/ Saran Wrap. You can carve out the pumpkins ahead of time, so that the pumpkin they win is special. Or you can do all four and just line the prizes up on the table and let the guests pick and choose which they want! Have a big plate of cookies available so that if the winners want to continue to play, they can win a single cookie. This keeps everyone involved and playing and lets more win a big prize! And this keeps the game going a little longer!But make sure that the cakes, cookies or cupcakes that you allow them to win are homemade..this just makes the game more special! ...People of ALL ages loved this game at out former church......they wouldn't play any game until this one started then they all got excited and wanted to join in! A HALLOWEEN MAZE (You're web site is great it has been a big help!) I have a game to submit. It is called happy happy happy halloween you make a maze with tables chairs blankets etc. You then blind fold on person and have another person lead them through the maze you can use fans, streamers, spaghetti noodles,etc. To scare the person with the blindfold it is better to have older kids lead younger kids through the maze! You then read parts of a story to them at different points in the maze and when they get through and everyone is done whoever can remember it gets a treat! We did this with my youth church group and it worked great! PIN THE FACE ON THE PUMPKIN (all ages) Using a large piece of orange poster board draw a pumpkin as big as the poster board. Draw triangle eyes and nose with a black magic marker. Using material as a template draw a pumpkin mouth with teeth. Use the template to trace on construction paper as many mouths as you think you will need. Blindfold the person playing giving
them a pumpkin mouth with tape on the back. Then spin him or her around
but facing the pumpkin at the end. Have them try to stick the mouth onto
the pumpkin where they think it should be. Have a big X marked whereit
should go.
Reverse Apple Bobbing Tie strings around apples, enough for each child or person participating in the game, and suspend from the ceiling or a tree branch. You may need to adjust the length of these so they are at least mouth high or lower. Then, instruct everyone they must eat the entire apple and the first to do this wins the game. But, there is one last rule to the game, they can not touch the apple with their hands. The first to get a bite out of the apple, wins. This is really hard to do, but is great fun to watch and capture on film! Another version of this idea, is to string donuts up instead of apples. "Dem" Bones Relay Race Purchase a plastic Halloween skeleton and disassemble the parts. Hide the parts throughout the room. Team members must run around the room and find all their parts and reassemble their skeleton. This can be done one team at a time, timing each to see who has completed the task in the shortest time frame. Or, teams can compete simultaneously, with each team having their parts of the skeleton hidden in a designated area or quarter of the room. Try this game with glow-in-the-dark skeletons too. "Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin." Cut out a large pumpkin face from construction paper. Draw in the face features minus the nose. From a separate piece of construction paper, cut out several different nose shapes. Put a number on the back of each nose. Hang the pumpkin face on the wall.
Blindfold the players and give them a numbered nose. Turn the player around
three times and have each player pin the nose on the pumpkin. The player
that comes closest to the location of the nose wins.
HALLOWEEN/HARVEST IDEAS We have a Halloween Party every year; Here are some of the games we play... I get a bale of straw & loosen it all up in a big pile then I put candy or prizes in it. Say go & the kids have a ball finding a prize. One per child. Give all the kids a pumpkin & let them paint or draw a face on it. Draw pictures of pumpkins, black cats, bats, etc. on construction paper & tape to floor. Have one less picture on floor than people start halloween music when you stop it the one not standing on a picture is out & so on until only one left. Hang pinata let kids at it. Tell ghost story &have wiener roast. MAKE YOUR OWN MONSTER Divide group into teams of 4,5
or 6 (depending on number present) make sure each group has there own space
to work in. Give each group several articles of clothing and objects (ex.
shirt, paper towel roll, ball of yarn, tin foil, apple, popsicle sticks,
leaves, spoon, lamp shade etc.). Use as many or as little as you want.
At the call of go the teams must create their own Halloween monster using
ALL of the objects. Some teams have even used themselves in this creation.
Give out prizes to the teams who finished fastest, the best monster, the
scariest monster, the weirdest monster etc.
Murderer You need about 4 or more people, paper, and a pen or pencil. Crumple up enough papers for each person to have one. Leave all the papers blank except for one you need to write MURDERER. Everyone needs to take one paper and read it.Every one sits without saying anything.The murderer has to wink at the otherpeople without getting caught.If the people get winked at they have to act dead. The other people have to guess who the murderer is before he can wink at them. You can have prizes for the person who guesses the murderer if you like. ANOTHER FOOT GAME Use a big aluminum cake. Place
5 or more marbles in the pan. Fill with cooked spaghetti noodles with red
food coloring and a little oil. Put serveral marbles in the pan and have
them search for the (eyes) marbles with their feet.
Each child is given a piece of paper and a pencil. If there is not room at a table for each child, each child needs a book or other hard surface to draw on. Each child is blindfolded or asked
to close their eyes. The leader tells the children to draw the eyes of
a jack-o-lantern, the round pumpkin part, the nose mouth and then stem.
This is not easy with the eyes closed and the results can be very funny.
Peel bananas and ties a string around them. Hang them from the ceiling or from a rope stretching across the room. Ask for volunteers to put their hands behind them and see who could eat the banana first on the word "GO!" This is hilarious!. Blacklight Body Painting This is fun! Be sure to use water soluble fluorescent paint in lots of different colors. In the light have kids paint each other with symbols, words, lines, etc. After everyone is ready - turn off the lights and turn on some blacklights. The kids will love it! Broomstick Dance (Teen and Pre-teen) This is a fun way for pre-teens and teens to dance without being so self-conscious. Use slow dance music (have the kids pick it out ahead of time). This game is like musical chairs except that you pass around a broomstick. Everyone is divided into couples on the dance floor. One BOY has the broom. As the music plays and everyone dances the boy with the broom must get rid of it by giving it to another boy. The BOY giving the broom now becomes the new dance partner of the girl. This can go on for as long as you like. We find that both the boys and girls like this! Everyone gets a chance to dance with each other. You can put a twist on this by having the girls be the ones exchanging brooms and partners, too. This is a great way for boys and girls to have a healthy social dance without staying in "couples" the whole time. To put a halloween twist on this - whenever the music stops whatever boy is holding the broom must have an orange ribbon tied in his hair. ADULTS - be sure the music is appropriate! Farmer John Relay (Middle school and up) Get two large brown grocery bags. In each put a long underwear, pants with elastic suspenders, bright colored bandana, a crazy wig, shirt, corn cob pipe, hat, etc. Divide into two teams. On the word "go" each team must send a person to the bag. The person must then put on everything over the clothes they are presently wearing and model for 10 seconds. Then take everything off and put it back in the bag and run back to their team so that the next team member can run and model. Giggle Wiggle This is a fun sleepover game where there are lots of sleeping bags. One person is chosen "it" and leaves the room. Everyone then dives into someone else's sleeping bag and covers their faces. Then "it" is called back in. She can then tiggle persons in the sleeping bags to guess who is in it. No jumping or sitting on the persons in the bags. If "it" guesses right, then the that person becomes the next "it." The kids can continue shuffling in and out of bags and disguising their voices. Guess Who? (Pre-teens and Teens) This is a fun game, but the kids should know each other pretty well by their first and last names. Divide the kids into two teams with one team leader). Have two adults (or two tall students) hold up a dark blanket (or dark bed sheet) between two teams of kids (so that they cannot see each other). Then two kids stand facing each other on opposite sides of the blanket. One the word "drop" the adults drop the blanket. The first person to shout out the first and last name of the person standing in front of them gets a point. The team leader then picks the next opponents when the sheets go back up. Halloween Bowl (All ages) Gather four 2-liter plastic bottles. Fill with a little water at the bottom to add some weight. You will use these bottles as bowling pins. Now use a small pumpkin as the bowling ball. Players can roll the pumpkin and see how many bottles they can knock over on each roll. Points awarded to the person who can knock over the most. Halloween Caroling (All ages) Similar to Christmas caroling - take a bunch of kids and go visit a children's ward in a hospital or adults in a hospital or nursing home. You must check with nurses ahead of time. For instance, you could pass out trick-or-treat bags which you may have decorated ahead of time. In the bags you could put different kinds of treats: i.e. crayons, stickers, games, puzzles, balloons, etc. Be sure to check with the hospital as to what is most appropriaye in terms of candy and treats. Be sure not to wear scarry costumes or medical garb. Halloween Clothes Grab Bag (All ages) Gather up all kinds of clothing articles (i.e. hats, baggy shirts and pants, ties, dresses, shoes, etc) and stuff it in a duffle bag or large pillow case. Pass the bag around. Each person must take out one article without looking. Play some music and have everyone walk down modeling their item! Halloween Gum Sculpture Give everyone 2 or 3 pieces of bubble gum, a 3 x 5 index card, and a toothpick. Let them chew on the gum for 2 minutes and then each must design a sculpture with the bubble gum. Award prizes! Halloween Ice Toes Use two aluminum cake or pie pans. Place 5 or more marbles in each pan. Cover with equal amounts of ice cubes in each pan. Two players then remove their shoes and socks and race to try and get the marbles out of each pan using only their toes! No spilling ice or knocking over pan. The first to get all the marbles out of the pan wins. You can also make this a relay by having an adult put the marbles back each time. This is funny and the kids are screaming when its cold! Halloween Toilet Paper Fashion Contest Have two or more teams of players. The object is to design the best looking mummy with a roll or two (or more depending on brand) of toilet paper. Each team picks someone to be the mummy. On the word "go" each team then wraps the person with the toilet paper (adults be sure they do not cover their mouth, nose, or eyes!). Be sure the mummy sticks their hands out in front so their hands do not get wrapped to their bodies. Give them a time limit (5 minutes max) to do this. Take pictures. If you do not want to use toilet paper you can use newspaper (but be aware that everyone's hands gets black!) Halloween Toe Mural (All Ages) This is a fun activity for younger kids, but it could even be fun for teens, too. Get a large piece of butcher paper (white) for a mural. Instead of finger painting - do "toe" painting with a Halloween theme. Kids must dip their toes and/or feet into pie pans of different color water paints. This should be hilarious. You could even divide up the kids into several groups to have several different murals. Award prizes for creativity, funny, scarry, etc. Halloween Stockings (All Ages) For a twist in sleepovers or a party ask the kids to decorate and wear their own Halloween stockings. You can award prizes for categories such as most original, funny, ugly, etc. Any battery operated lights? OKOLE CHARADES (Middle school and up) "Okole" is rear end in Hawaiian. This game is very funny. Play this game in teams like charades, but instead of the team person trying to mime or spell a word out with their hands and faces they must use their rear end to spell out the word Kids (and adults) just love this game because it can be very hilarious. Choose words appropriate to spell out. The first team to shout out the correct word wins a point! Old Mother Witch Tag Game (Middle school and up) This is a fun game for a group of 5 - 15 kids. One person is chosen the witch. He or she walks hunched over as everyone else walks behind. They chant in unison: Old mother witch Couldn't sew a stich. Picked up a penny, And thought she was rich. The person who is the witch can stop at any time and ask in a spooky voice, "Are you there, my children?" The group of kids can then either say YES or NO. If they say NO then the witch continues on and the group continues chanting. But if the group says YES, then the witch must turn making spooky sounds and everyone scatters. He or she then runs to tag someone who then becomes the next witch. The game begins again. Pumpkin Relay (All ages) Have one pumpkin for every four
to five kids. Carve a face into each pumpkin saving the pieces that make
up the eyes, nose, and mouth. Mix up these pieces from the different pumpkins
in one pile. Have relay teams send one person at a time to obtain one piece
to take back to their assigned pumpkin. If the piece of pumpkin they choose
fits then the next person on their team can go to the table, otherwise
they have to go back and get another piece. Game is over when the first
team has all the right parts!
Similar to egg tossing. Use a small pumpkin per two players. The two people toss the pumpkin back and forth to each other, each time stepping back away from each other. The person wins who does not drop the pumpkin. Straw Face (Middle school and up) This is a fun to watch 4 - 6 people sitting in chairs facing an audience. Give them each a plastic straw. Facing the audience they put the straws in their mouths holding from the right side. On "go" they must move the straws to its left side by only using their mouths and tongues. This is hilarious with kids making the funniest facial expressions as they move the straws. Tongue Twisters! (All ages) See who can say these words fast ten times in a row each without messing up! Bad Blood Toy Boat What's In It? (All ages. Gross stuff for teens!) This game is lots of fun. You will need to fill a large tub with water. Then you gather 2 - 4 volunteers and blindfold them. Then while they are blindfolded you put all kinds of "safe" and "appropriate" articles in it (nothing sharp!) Then one by one they must take each item out and guess what it is by feeling it and identifying it. They leave their blindfolds on until the end of the game. They must pass the item along to the next person until someone can guess what it is. If you want to make a gross joke at the end - throw in a peeled bananas smeered with peanut butter. Yuck! Gross! Take photos of their reactions - and be sure to have paper towels for clean-up. YOU MUST HAVE AN ADULT SUPERVISE THIS! Witch Hunt (All ages) First design a witch on a piece of paper as a template (do not make it to big). Trace it onto black construction paper. Cut out 50 or more black witches and then hide them all over your house, classroom, gym, etc. For the party have everyone either individually or in pairs go in search of the witches. Turns off the lights! Make sure everyoneor couple has a flashlight. The person or couple returning with the most witches wins. |
