Nobara has always been passionate about volleyball, but her mother is against her daughter playing sports and instead wants Nobara to focus all her time on training to be the best hostess for the Japanese cuisine restaraunt their family owns called Seiryu. Nobara wishes her little sister (the cuter, more girlish one) could take after the family restaraunt, but it's tradition to have the first daughter in the family to run the business. Nobara and her mother argue often, but Nobara has had enough when her mother told her high school to get rid of the girls' volleyball team (her mother has power at the school because she donates a generous amount of money). She leaves the house and runs to her aunt. Her aunt tells her that there is only one place where she could live, which is the boys' volleyball team's dorms....
