Part 1

Hitomi's friends try to get Hitomi to go to a goukon (a social gathering between guys and girls), but Hitomi will not go because she has a date with Atsuya. She tells them sorry and takes off. Her friends are amazed that Hitomi is only thinks about one guy only now.

Hitomi goes shopping for new clothes for her date with Atsuya. She even thinks that she's a little cute for being so excited over a date. Hitomi gets home kind of late and as soon as she turns on the lights, the phone starts to ring. She picks it up, but there is no answer. Lately, this has been happening to her a lot and Hitomi is frightened.

On the day of the date with Atsuya, Atsuya cancels the date because he has to do a favor for his senpai (his upper classman) and work for him. Hitomi is very disappointed and upset and her friends pressure her into going to the goukon since she got all dressed up anyway.

At the train station, she's short 10 yen for a ticket and a nice man helps her out and gives her the 10 yen. She gets on the train and notices that the same guy that gave her the 10 yen is on the same train. He gets off the same station as Hitomi too. Hitomi is walking towards the goukon meeting place and the man is still behind her. Hitomi wonders if he's a stalker. She reaches the goukon meeting place and the man is still behind her! She turns around and is about to say something to him, but some of his friends call him over, "Hideaki! You're late!" Hitomi's friends also call her and she realizes that Hideaki is there for the goukon too. She's embarassed for thinking so badly of him.

Hideaki introduces himself and Hitomi is about to introduce herself too, but her ex-boyfriend butts in and makes all sorts of rude comments about Hitomi, saying that she's a player, etc. Hitomi gets really embarassed and turns red. Atsuya shows up, looking very pissed, and grabs Junichi and throws him to the ground. Hitomi is suprised to see Atsuya. The manager comes to apology to Junichi for Atsuya's behavior explaining to him that Atsuya is covering this shift for someone else. Atsuya walks away. Hitomi chases after him and tells Hideaki that she's going home. Hitomi finds Atsuya and he tells her that she has such bad luck with men and that it was like that the first time he met her too. Hitomi tells him that it's his fault for cancelling the date. Atsuya notices that Hitomi curled her hair and has new clothes and tells her so. Hitomi starts to get mad because she thinks he is teasing her, but Atsuya tells her that she looks cute. Hitomi is very happy and wonders how Atsuya feels about her and what she is to Atsuya...

Later on, that night, Hitomi gets home and as soon as she turns on her lights, the phone starts ringing. She is very afraid.

The next day, her friends ask her to go to a traveling agency to plan their next vacation. She walks into the travel agency and Hideaki is there working. Hitomi realizes that her friends set her up. Hideaki asks Hitomi if she would like to have lunch with him. They have some lunch outside and Hideaki confesses that he's the one who asked Hitomi's friends to hook him up with her. Hitomi is suprised because she thought that he wouldn't want anything to do with her after what happened at the compa. Hideaki tells her that there's nothing wrong with dating a lot of guys and that he felt like protecting her when Hitomi turned red and started trembling. He asks Hitomi for her number, so he can take her out to dinner some time and Hitomi gives it to him.

Later on that night (?), Hitomi has Atsuya carry up a plant to her apartment. Before opening the door, Hitomi starts to tremble and Atsuya asks her what's wrong. She tells him about the prank calls everytime she comes home. Sure enough, once she turns the lights on, the phone starts to ring and nobody says anything on the other end. Hitomi hangs up and the phone rings again. Atsuya picks up the phone and tells the person on the other end to watch. He opens the curtains and kisses Hitomi passionately by the window. The person on the phone hangs up and Atsuya hangs up the phone. He begins to leave and Hitomi wants him to stay, but he just tells her to call him if the prank calls start again and leaves.

Outside, at the phone booth by Hitomi's apartment, Hideaki is shocked to see Hitomi and Atsuya kissing at the window.

On another night, she goes out to dinner with Hideaki. On their way home, Hitomi is really drunk and stops by the bridge to catch her breath. She sees Atsuya and another woman coming out of a hotel. Hitomi is hurt and Hideaki tells her that he saw the two of them kissing by the window last time and that he thinks that Atsuya is playing around with Hitomi. Hitomi yells at him and tells Hideaki that she's not being played around with because it's an unrequited love. Hitomi goes on to tell him that she loves Atsuya so much, but she can never have him. She even confesses that the reason why she called Hideaki was because she was lonely and that she's the type of person that cries to people only when she wants something. Hideaki hugs her and tells her that even if her phone call was out of lonliness, he was happy regardless. He says that he's happy that Atsuya is her unrequited love because now he doesn't have to worry about him.

Atsuya looks up and is suprised to see Hideaki hugging Hitomi. Hitomi is crying and looking down at Atsuya when Hideaki asks her to go out with him.

Part 2

Hitomi holds Hideaki's card with his cell phone number on it. Hideaki tells her to call his cell phone since his home phone isn't acting right. As she's looking at the card, her friends notice the card and ask her what's up. She tells them that Hideaki had asked her out, but she doesn't think that she should. Her friends tell her that Hideaki seems like a nice guy, but Hitomi's probably right since she has Atsuya. Hitomi thinks back to the night she saw Atsuya at the hotel...she thinks that Atsuya saw her with Hideaki, but isn't sure, so she goes to see him to explain the misunderstanding.

She goes to the bar he usually works at, but one of the workers tells her that he's at another bar because there are more foreigners there and since Atsuya knows another language, he goes there often. The worker asks Hitomi if she's Atsuya's girlfriend and Hitomi tells him no. The worker's a little suprised and tells her that he just assumed Hitomi was Atsuya's girlfriend since Atsuya is so nice to her, unlike his attitude to other girls.

Hitomi goes to other bar Atsuya is working at and Atsuya takes her home. Hitomi mentions how there are a lot of foreigners at the bar and asks Atsuya to help her translate one of her papers she has to do in the future. Then she asks him why he wanted to be a translator. Atsuya tells her that it was Masato's dream amd that Masato always wanted to learn different languages and travel around the world once he got out of the hospital...so Atsuya's trying to make Masato's dream come true. He adds that he's only told this Masato's spirit, Saki, and Hitomi. Hitomi thinks about how unfair he is for telling her that because she has high hopes. She wonders if she could really be Atsuya's "special" person.

The next day, at school, Hitomi's friend tells her that there is someone waiting for her in front of the school. Hitomi gets excited, thinking that it's Atsuya, but it's Hideaki instead. Hideaki asks her to have dinner with him since he wants to hear her answer as well. Hitomi agrees to go and at dinner, tells him that she cannot date him because she's really in love with Atsuya. Hideaki is a little disappointed, but asks her to have dinner with him every once in awhile just as friends. Hitomi is happy and agrees to do so.

Hideaki takes Hitomi home and notices that Hitomi left something in his car. He goes to the apartment buzzer and tells her that she forgot something and Hitomi asks Hideaki if he could come up to her place and help her fix the sink problem. Hideaki helps her out, but gets all wet. Hitomi apologizes and dries his clothes for him. Hideaki tells her that it's okay since he feels a little lucky for being able to spend a little time with Hitomi. After Hideaki's clothes dry, Hideaki leaves and Hitomi thinks about how nice Hideaki is and how great it would be date him and begins to wonder if she's stupid for liking Atsuya, the guy that makes her cry all the time, so much.

On another day, Hitomi goes over Atsuya place, so he can help her with the translating with her school paper. Hitomi notices a woman's earring on Atsuya's bed and asks him who's it is. Atsuya says that he doesn't know who's it is since he doesn't know her name or address. Hitomi is hurt by this and hugs Atsuya from behind, asking him why he won't choose her. She tells him that he can do anything to her. Atsuya flips her over onto the bed and asks her if she'll regret it. Hitomi's heart thumps and tells him that there's no way that she'll regret. Atsuya kisses her on the forehead and tells her to hurry home before she misses the last train. Hitomi gets up and asks him if this is the answer. Atsuya asks her what happened to the guy that she was with last time. Hitomi is shocked that he knew and didn't even ask her about it. She tells Atsuya that he asked her out, but she rejected him. Atsuya replies, "You rejected him? Why? What a waste." Hitomi gets upset and throws a pillow at the bookshelf. She yells, "Are you saying that for real when you know how I feel about you!? I've had enough of you teasing me already!" She runs out of the apartment and slams the door.

She runs outside crying and wonders why Atsuya is so nice to her. Her phone rings and it's Hideaki. Hideaki tells her that he just wanted to hear her voice. Hitomi starts to cry and asks Hideaki to help her.

Part 3

Hideaki comes to pick Hitomi up and they just sit in the car. Hitomi asks him why he's not saying anything or driving anywhere. Hideaki tells her that he'll wait until Hitomi's ready to talk or wants to go somewhere. Hitomi starts to cry again, thinking of how unfair she is for using Hideaki. Hideaki tells her that he's angry and jealous at Atsuya for making Hitomi cry like this.

Saki is walking outside and notices that Hitomi is inside the car.

Hitomi goes home and checks her messages. She has one message and it's from Atsuya. He says, "Sorry." Hitomi starts to cry and plays the message over and over again.

It's another day and Hitomi gets mail from someone named Masashi Sasaki. She tells her friends at school about Masashi wanting to get together and go on a double date. Her friends remember him as being a show-off, playboy that tried to get Hitomi. Hitomi tells them that Masashi probably wants to show off his new girlfriend since he's probably still bothered by her rejecting him. Her friends tell her to go real quick with Atsuya since Masashi will probably never leave her alone. Hitomi thinks about it and doesn't want to take Atsuya with her because he's not really her boyfriend. She calls Hideaki, but he's out on a business trip, so Hitomi decides to go on her own.

Later on that night, Hitomi's friends go to the club where Atsuya works at and tells Atsuya about Masashi.

Hitomi meets up with Masashi and is annoyed by his attitude right from the start. She's about to tell him that she's going to leave for the night, but Atsuya shows up and tells Hitomi sorry for being late. They all have dinner together and Masashi and his girlfriend are impressed with Atsuya. Before they leave, Masashi makes a sarcastic comment to Hitomi about Atsuya being a nice accessory for her. Hitomi gets pissed off and yells, "You don't even know what I have to go through to be in love with Atsuya!" Masashi and his girlfriend leaves and Atsuya puts his hands on Hitomi's shoulders. Hitomi is nervous about what Atsuya will say, but all he says is, "I told my work that I'd be late. I'll take you home." Hitomi is shocked that he didn't even acknowledge what she just said to Masashi. She gets angry and sarcastically thanks him for acting like her boyfriend. She tells him that she hates him and runs off.

On another night, Hitomi has dinner with Hideaki. He just got back from his business trip to Sydney. Hitomi asks him if he's staying the night at the hotel and Hideaki tells her that he usually stays over an extra night because it gets lonely by himself at home.

At Atsuya's place, Saki tells him that she saw Hitomi with another man in a car and says that she thought Hitomi liked Atsuya. Atsuya tells her that Hitomi just told him that she hated him the other night. Saki tells him that there's no reason why Hitomi shouldn't get mad because Atsuya's such a playboy. Atsuya tells her that he never slept with Hitomi...only kissed her. Saki looks at him in suprise.

After dinner, before Hitomi leaves, Hideaki gives her a gift and tells her that he couldn't stop thinking about Hitomi throughout his whole trip and that he's happy that he got see her in person. Hitomi is flattered and thanks him. On her way home, Hitomi thinks about all the nice things Hideaki tells her and starts to cry. She thinks, I want to be at ease. Hitomi goes back to Hideaki's hotel room. She is a liitle nervous at first, but Hideaki hugs her and they make love.

Back at Atsuya's place, Atsuya tells Saki, "I don't know myself, but Hitomi is important.  I'm too scared to lay a hand on her because she's so cute. This might not be feelings of love, but she's very special to me."

Part 4

In the morning, Hitomi is tickled by how nice Hideaki treats her. Her heart doesn't beat like it does with Atsuya, but she's at ease and doesn't have to worry about being hurt anymore.

Atsuya gets a message from Hideaki and asks him to meet him to discuss something. Atsuya's on his way to the cafe and sees Hideaki having an argument with a lady. The lady tears up some papers and takes off. Hideaki gets up to use the bathroom and Atsuya goes over to the table to see what the papers were. He looks at it with shock and walks out of the restaraunt. When Hideaki comes out of the restroom, the waitress tells him that a man came in towards the table, but left.

Hitomi is supposed to meet up with Hideaki later on that night. She makes the meeting place where Atsuya works at because she wants to test herself. Atsuya comes up to her and teases her for coming to his workplace a lot when she hates him. Hitomi tells him to stop treating her like a kid again and tells him that she "knows" what it's like to be an adult now too and that she stayed the night with Hideaki. She goes on to say that she followed Atsuya's advice and decided to start dating Hideaki. Atsuya looks at Hitomi with a deep, hurt look. Hitomi is shocked to see this and wonders why he looks so hurt.

Atsuya walks away and bumps into Hideaki. Hideaki tells him that it's good timing since he wanted to talk to Atsuya earlier. He tells Atsuya to stop seeing Hitomi for good. Atsuya gets mad and asks him how he could've slept with Hitomi...he yells, "Hitomi's the type of girl guys like us cannot touch!" Atsuya punches him and Hitomi hears the ruckus and goes out to stop Atsuya. Hitomi tells Atsuya that Hideaki is nice and that Atsuya is the one who made her cry all the time. Atsuya says nothing and walks away. Hitomi and Hideaki leaves the restaraunt. Hitomi apologizes to Hideaki for choosing the place where Atsuya works at. Hideaki tells her that it's alright and that he's sorry too. Hitomi feels better and they kiss.

It's another day and Hitomi goes by Hideaki's work. She doesn't see him around, so she asks one of his co-workers if Hideaki is working. He tells her that he's in the back, so Hitomi tells him that she's a friend, so she'll just wait for him. The co-worker tells her that it's alright, but Hideaki's with his wife and it seems like they're arguing. Hitomi is shocked and thinks back to when Hideaki told her sorry. She doesn't understand why he's sorry. Sorry that he lied? Or sorry that he lied about liking her?

Atsuya goes to see Hitomi and from the look on her face, he can tell that she found out. Hitomi asks him why he came when she was mean to him the last time. She gets upset and tells him that she can't believe men anymore and that she doesn't want him to see how pitiful she looks right now. Atsuya hugs her and tells her that he can't see her face if he hugs her. Hitomi starts to cry and tells him that he's unfair for being so nice to her at a time like this.

Hideaki is having some drinks with his co-worker and his co-worker tells him that he heard that Hideaki's wife still won't divorce him. Hideaki tells him yes. Then his co-worker tells him that Hitomi stopped by work asking for Hideaki, but she left after he told her that Hideaki's having an argument with his wife. Hideaki drops his drink.

In the morning, Hitomi's eyes are red and she thinks about how much she cried. She cried about Hideaki's lies, but she thinks that she also cried because Atsuya's hug and warmth felt so nice. She gets ready and walks out of her apartment where Hideaki is waiting for her. Hideaki tries to talk to her, but Hitomi tells him to leave her alone because she is capable of saying some mean things to him and she doesn't want to do that to him and takes off.

At school, Hitomi's friends ask her if she wants to go on a vacation since it'll be Hitomi's birthday soon as well. She agrees to go. Hitomi's cell phone rings and it's Atsuya. He just checks up on her and asks her if she's alright. Hitomi tells him that she's okay and is very happy that Atsuya is being so nice to her.

Hitomi gets home and plays her messages on her answering machine. She has a message from Hideaki who says that he'll be waiting at a park until she comes. It's been 2 hours since he left the message and Hitomi looks outside as it starts to rain. She decides to go see him. Hideaki is glad that she came explains to her his situation...him and his wife married at an early age and she cheated on him. They've been seperated for a year now and he kept on telling himself that he should tell Hitomi about it, but he was falling for her more and more everyday and didn't want to take the chance to lose her. He knows that that's no excuse, tho. Hitomi hands him an umbrella and thanks him for telling her the truth. Hideaki hugs her and tells her that he wants her to believe that he really does love her. Hitomi wants to believe him, but doesn't know what to do.

The next day, it's Hitomi's birthday, and she's laying in bed sick. Someone rings her doorbell and it's Atsuya! Atsuya scolds her for not calling him for help, but Hitomi didn't want to bother him. Atsuya tells her to change her clothes, but Hitomi is embarassed and tells him that she'll do it on her own, but she gets dizzy. Atsuya tells her to stop worrying about silly things when her health comes first. He starts to change her clothes for her and Hitomi's heart cannot stop beating. Hitomi takes Atsuya's hand and puts it on her breast and asks if Atsuya loves her. Atsuya tells her that he "likes" her. Hitomi asks about "love" and Atsuya answers, "I don't know". Hitomi is suprised because he could take advantage of her anytime. She's just happy that he came to her place. Hitomi falls asleep and Atsuya leaves. When Hitomi wakes up, she sees a present from Atsuya. She opens it and it's a cute necklace. She realizes that Atsuya came by because of her birthday and starts to cry out of happiness. She thinks, Even if the "like" doesn't turn into "love", I'm just happy that he takes special care of me and that's enough for me.

It's another day and Hideaki pulls Hitomi into his car. She asks him where he's taking her, but Hideaki doesn't answer. She starts to get scared because she's never seen Hideaki act this way before. He takes her into a place where they process divorce papers and hands the workers the papers. After that, he takes Hitomi outside and asks her to go out with him one more time. Hitomi is happy, but confused and doesn't know what to do since it all happened so fast. She decides to not care about his wife or Atsuya and to just fall in love with Hideaki. She accepts going out with him.

They start to make love, but in the middle of it, she calls out Atsuya's name!
